The Fraser-Cascade Mountain School is an outdoor experience program run by School District 78 (Fraser-Cascade) in British Columbia, Canada. We provide all season outdoor excursions to students from grades 6 to 12 in Boston Bar Elementary Secondary, Hope Secondary, C.E. Barry Intermediate, Silver Creek Elementary, Kent Elementary, Agassiz Elementary Secondary and Harrison Elementary Schools. We have been providing safe, quality, professional outdoor experiences to adolescents for more than 20 years. We are grateful to the Skagit Environmental Endowment Commission and to the Hope Mountain Centre for Outdoor Learning for significant and ongoing financial support over the years - our program would not exist without them. Mountain Equipment Co-op is a generous supporter of our program as well.

Our backyard is the Skagit Valley, Manning Provincial Park, the Fraser Canyon, Harrison Lake and the amazing Coquihalla. From the Coast Mountain to the Cascades, from the Fraser Canyon to the US border at Hozomeen, we hike, camp, climb, snowshoe, explore and learn. Our summer courses are popular and well attended.

In 2010 and 2011 Fraser-Cascade students, their teachers and parents camped overnight at Ross Lake, went snowshoeing at Falls Lake and Ottomite Mountain in the Coquihalla, hiked the Coquihalla Needle Ridge Trail, winter camped at Despair Pass, hiked the Heather Trails and Lightning Lakes in Manning, climbed Blackwall Peak and to the peak of Mount Frosty (the highest mountain in Manning Park), climbed Yak Peak and Zoa (in a snowstorm!) in the Coquihalla, climbed to Serpentine Lake on the Coquihalla, to the Spirit Caves above Yale, hiked the Hope-Nicola Trail into the Othello Tunnels and explored the trail up Dog Mountain.

During our autumn 2011 hiking season, 440 students and 103 adults spent a full day hiking with the Mountain School. Stay tuned for our Winter 2012 Snowshoe Schedule and please, join us on an excursion.

Our young people - actively engaged in the outdoors!
